Writing Tired

It's 9:52 and I've had a long day. Between starting a new job and raising two kids, it's hard to find time to write. However, it's times like these where you HAVE to make the time. Even if you set the timer and only write for ten minutes, that's better than nothing. And, it's way better than sitting in front of the TV letting your brain turn into mush (although, at this moment, I wouldn't mind my brain turning to mush).

A rule I use for tired, late night writing, is that you should try to move the story forward. That might only mean moving it forward by a couple of sentences, but those sentences are worth their weight in gold because you've just flexed your willpower muscles in a major way. Write for a little while, or a long while if you're on a roll despite exhaustion, and congratulate yourself at the end with a treat. Then you can put your feet up, turn on the tube, and let your brain turn to mush.
