Opening Your Mind

According to The Artist's Way, this week I need to practice opening my mind. I'm afraid what I might find inside, especially since I have a weak stomach.

Along with being open minded, one of the main headings for this week is "Skepticism." I think I'm a pretty open minded individual, but I have to admit that there is an inner skeptic inside me that rears his ugly head from time-to-time and tries to destroy any notions I have that my success as a writer has come about, in part, because of a series of incredibly fortunate and serendipitous events. That voice speaks to me during the dark times, when things aren't going well. I might even believe it except that things went down for me, and are going down for me, in such a way that it's impossible for me to think there wasn't some serendipity and synchronicity happening as I move along the road in my life as a writer. But that skeptic is in there and sometimes he's hard to ignore.

One of my fav quotes from the film Grosse Pointe Blank:
Tracy: "So, how are you? How's your life?"
 Martin: "In progress."
